What a Sunday! E-mail

ArnaudArnaud Frennet, Naish international SUP rider based in Punta de Lobos, Chile, tells us about his new definition of “The Perfect Day”

“What a Sunday!!"

It started at dawn with a SUP surf session in perfect glass waves. Very long lefts rolling in front of an impressive cliff in the middle of nowhere, and only 6 persons in the water, all good friends of mine, some I had not seen for years. What a celebration for meeting again!

I scored loads of waves, not sure how many but each of them seemed to be more perfect than the previous one…a truly memorable session!

Where is that spot? Very simple, we call it “Secreto”…you see what I mean?

But to be honest it was not the best part of the day. The afternoon session, in 30 centimeters waves, was even better! That session I’ll never forget for the simple reason it was the first SUP surf session of my daughters Lanais and Danahe.

Both had been practicing Stand Up Paddle for a while already in flat waters, but they had never paddled out in the ocean on their own (in Chile the Ocean is not very welcoming for kids!).

I got so happy therefore when the youngest, Danahe, 8 years old, asked me to go SUPing in the waves. Lanais, 10 years old, could not resist very long after seeing her sister in the sea and came to join us also. We had a fantastic hour riding “micro-waves” together, it was almost unreal, even more when a baby seal came to watch us enjoying his beach.

Seems like I have found my new definition of the “Prefect Day”!
