Paddler Feedback - Justin Bing 20 Feb 2011 Dimensions: 12'6 x 29” x 5" Literage: 226.1 Litres
Features: Double leash plugs. Carry handle. V front deck and added gutter in top deck allow for excellent water run off especially in open ocean swells. Available in Hi Tech Carbon Kevlar & Pure Range Production. My Feedback: I’ve been paddleboarding for around 6 months and am fairly new to the racing aspect. I have had the opportunity to try a variety of boards in various conditions. In the racing and downwind aspect of paddleboarding I have become most comfortable on the Coreban 12’6 for the following reasons.
The 12’6 is an easy transition into racing from waveriding as it is incredibly stable and allows for easy turning. I tried out out both the 11’6, which was really fun for down winders and easy to turn but lacks the ability to get a lot of speed, and the 14’, which allowed me to go a lot faster and was fun in calm winds and flat seas, however it lacked the stability of the 11’6 and I found it difficult to turn. The 12’6 is definitely the board that I felt the best on allowing for both stability and speed. This is my choice of board for downwinders especially in strong winds as well as slalom races as it allows for easy maneuverability around the buoys and control on waves if you are lucky enough to catch one on your way in. After 6 months on a variety of boards, I have decided that the best option for downwind, rough seas and high winds above 25 knots, would be the Coreban 12’6”.

COREBAN - 12’6

Comments
I've been researching for a long distance Open Ocean and downwind board. I was looking at the 14'..such as Naish, Starboard, Fanatic, Bark Dominator, and the Coreban Alpha 14 among others.
But the "comments" I have been reading about the Coreban Alpha 12'6 got me considering taking a demo of this board.
I've been trying to get a demo for sure...but I would also be interested in hearing your opinion about the possible comparison between the Naish 12'6 and the Alpha 12'6... and the Alpha 12'6 compared to the other 14' I mentioned above in relation to downwind and open ocean paddling.
I am aware that when a board is "GOOD" at all scenarios, it ends up NOT being "GREAT" at any!
Any way... Thanks in advance for your reply and comments.
Sincerely,
Ren
