Design and Shape:
The first impression I had of this board its “It’s a Beast”, over time I started realizing what an awesomely designed board this is. The board seems bulky but all that bulkiness is there for a reason. The reason for that bulkiness is to provide you with a platform to perform most SUPing activities on. The board flat water paddles well, downwinds well and surfs really well especially for heavier people over say 90kg. The scooped rocker prevents nose dives. The rounded rails provide stability. The 231 litres volume make catching waves a breeze.

Paddling: 
The board paddles really well as you would expect from a longer board. We did a few downwinders and found the rocker to really help in the short period chop found in Table Bay. It is not a Javelin or Glide but it does get the job done.

Surfing: My relationship with the 11’6 started with “Help How Do I Turn This Thing?” Slowly but surely I started realizing that it can be turned and after awhile I started realized it turns really well. There were many situations that this board surprised me with its speed and rocker. I also found that changing the fin to a 9” really improved the looseness of the board.

Conclusion:
The Naish 11’6 is a great allround board for the heavier person leaning to SUP. It will get used to learn to SUP on and stay around for those small days, windy days and absolutely flat days when it seems there is nothing to do.
