Anna claims Team SA's first Silver at ISA World Champs E-mail

Anna on her way to silver

Team South Africa have claimed their first Silver medal at the ISA World StandUp Paddle and Paddleboard Championship!

The first ever ISA World StandUp Paddle and Paddleboard Championship is half way through the event and South African contingent have been doing really well standing up against stiff international compitition.

Anna Notten managed to claim 2nd place in the womens paddleboard event against competitors from the best contries in the world.

Justin Bing is through to round 3 of the Men's SUP Surf after taking 2nd place in his round two heat. Ivan van Vuuren had a major setback during practise when he pout his knee out prior to his heats. After getting a 4th in his round two event, Ivan went on to provide a entertaining battle for first place in his round two reprocharge heat which resulted in a 2nd place finish in the final heat of the day.

Penny Stemmet and fellow Cape Town resident Karin Figil (Austria) both made their nations proud, but could not hold back the solid surfing performances of Australian and Brizilan womens team.

The SUP racing events are still to come and we wish them and the Men's surf team all the best for the remainder of the compition!
